2020 General Membership Meeting: Annual General Membership Meeting The Annual General Membership Meeting will NOT be held at Mary's home due to the Covid-19 concerns. It was decided at the Aug. 4th meeting not to have the General Membership Meeting in Oct.
Nov. 2019-Feb. 2020 Lake Drawdown (3rd)
Our 3rd lake draw-down has ended as of Feb. 20, 2020! Previous draw-downs took place 11/1/2013, 11/1/2016, and it's time once again for another draw-down.
This has really made a difference in the cleanliness of the lake and has increased the fish population in the lake! We haven't had to stock more bass in several years now! The draw-down usually lasts until early February, and the water is drawn down 4"- 6". The last draw-down ended in Feb. and the lake very quickly filled up after a few hard rains! This is a great time to make any repairs to your bulkheads, clean out branches and bag those leaves that are filling in your shore line! Drawing down the water has proven to help the lake, without losing fish and also helping air to get to the leaves, making the leaves oxidize faster.
UPDATE on 2019-2020 Draw Down: Because of the almost constant rain that seemed to happen throughout the draw-down period (just as the lake was finally drying enough to work on), no major work could be done during this time. There were some members who did limited work around their lots. As Mike M. & Mark have previously stated, the primary purpose of the draw down was to expose the bottom sediment to oxygen to allow for more efficient decomposition. For this purpose, the draw down was very successful. There was a lot of exposed coast line around the lake during the draw down timeline!
Catch & Release! Beginning March 1, 2020, all fishing on the lake is “Catch and Release” until further notice. This primarily means that Bass should always be released during this period so they can spawn and help grow the lake population of bass! It does not include bream, catfish or any other pan fish.

"A note from our President - Sept. 26, 2019" Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2019, 6:30 pm, at Mary Dunbar’s home, 822 E. Lakeview Dr. Baton Rouge, LA. As you will note from the attached Agenda, the meeting focuses on adopting a 2020 Budget, the changes to the Lake’s By-laws, reporting on Results of the Lake Survey, the Drawdown, Mark McElroy’s Lake Health report, financial assistance to Donna and Jak Kunstler at the Cove and assistance to the members on the Finger, as well as the annual Holiday Social. Please consider attending this very important annual meeting. Please remember that it is your Association and it is your money. As in the past Mary Dunbar and Dianna Underhill will be organizing their always terrific refreshments for our meeting. It is our plan to deliver a reminder FLYER a week or so before the meeting. The proposed By-Law changes were delivered to each home on Aug. 1st, 2019, along with the Aug. 1st newsletter. Both documents are on legal size paper. This will be voted on at the annual General Meeting on Oct. 21, 2019. Also posted under "Documents" tab are the current Articles of Incorporation (July 1959) and the current By-Laws (March 2008).
